Even doing something you know is that which ought to be done, and which you would be miserable without does not... well, it's trading one misery for another sadness. But sadness is preferable. There's a wistfulness to sadness that is not present in misery.

But it is... comforting, perhaps, to be happy in moments without feeling like one has to pretend that life is also good, or perfect. I can embrace that.
